PREGNANCY PROBLEMS

Pregnancy is often associated with a large number of problems resulting from hormonal changes, nutrient deficiencies, expanded size of the uterus, increased blood flow, weight gain and its distribution, etc. Problems include backache, constipation, dizziness, flatulence, gestational diabetes, hemorrhoids, insomnia, morning sickness, nasal bleeding and congestion, sciatica, stretch marks, swollen hands and feet, varicose veins.

Diet:
Balanced diet, with adequate protein, monounsaturated fats such as in olive oil and nuts, fiber, but low saturated fats. Avoid alcohol, caffeine, junk foods, smoking, stress, especially the first 4 months. Scrutinize closely any drugs you take including aspirin, aspartame and phenylanine.

Multi-vitamins multi-mineral supplement, folic acid, vitamins B complex, vitamins A, C, D, E, iron.

Ginger for morning sickness, red raspberry.
