Bread and cereal products

Wholegrain products retain their vitamins, minerals and fiber. Therefore, the zinc can replace the cadmium present, and prevent damage to the kidneys. In addition, wholegrain bread has a lower glycemic index than white bread, always a matter of importance for diabetics. Equally, there seems to be a link between large consumption of any type of bread or other cereal products and low coronary heart disease rates.
Although this connection has not been explained to anyone's satisfaction, it seems to be a fact accepted by many nutritionists and epidemiologists. Experiments have shown that increasing the amount of soluble fiber by 6 g a day through refined wheat based bakery products, has decreased human blood cholesterol regardless of the fiber source.
