Function
Glucomannan is a polysaccharide consisting of glucose and mannose, derived from the tuber plant amorphophallis. Glucomannan has the capacity to expand some sixty times its volume, therefore helping to control the appetite by inducing a feeling of plenty.
Uses
It helps hypoglycemics by normalizing the sugar in the blood. At the same time, it is useful in obesity and diabetes for in addition to controlling the appetite and normalizing blood sugar, it seems to mobilize fat from the colon, and it can reduce allergic reactions and other symptoms linked to disorders due to both high and low blood sugar.
