An early food of mankind, nuts contain many vitamins and minerals, but also very often a large quantity of oils and fats. Therefore, nuts must be eaten with some discretion and not become the objects of indiscriminate snacking. Nuts are also frequent causes of allergies.
All fresh raw nuts, especially these with monounsaturated oils like almonds, walnuts, filberts, pecans and macadamia, but which are very high in fats. Equally chestnuts that have hardly any fat, but surprising amounts of vitamin C and fiber.
All salted and roasted nuts; these which are not preserved very well and can turn rancid;
and limit your intake of peanuts.
