ACNE VULGARIS
Skin inflammation afflicting mainly teenagers, caused by trapped oil at the sebaceous (oil-producing) glands of hair follicles, when bacteria and yeasts accumulate. Care must be taken to avoid scarring.

Diet:
Avoid refined and/or concentrated simple sugars, and intake of high-fat foods. Also avoid foods that contain trans-fatty acids (milk, milk products, margarine, and other hydrogenated oil). Foods high in iodine and high salt content should not be eaten. A high protein diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables may be helpful.

Nutrients:
Chromium, lecithin, primrose oil, UFAs, zinc, vitamins A and E.

Herbs:
Tea tree oil topically.
