The most common mood disorder that may be caused by tension, upset stomach, stress, poor diet, nutritional deficiencies, thyroid disorders, too much sugar, endometriosis, allergies, premenstrual syndrome, several prescription drugs, low levels of serotonin. Exercise and proper nutrition are particularly helpful.
Diet:
Avoid refined carbohydrates, sugars, allergenic foods, too much wheat, coffee and alcohol. Eat a well balanced diet with plenty of raw fruits and vegetables, good quality protein, nuts, legumes, wholefoods. A low-glycemic diet often is helpful. For POSTNATAL DEPRESSION eat a balanced diet with wholesome foods and supplement with vitamin B6 as well as a multivitamin and mineral formula.

St. John's Wort, kava, gingko biloba (not while lactating).
