Common gastrointenstinal disorder of the large intestine, affecting twice as many women as men, hampering the movement of wastes through the bowel. Check for allergies and cancer as they often have similar symptoms.
Diet:
Bland diet with rice, steamed vegetables, boiled fruit, fish, chicken and turkey. Avoid animal fats, caffeine, carbonated drinks, dairy products, fried or spicy foods, junk foods, pastries, sugar, wheat products.
Nutrients:
Alfalfa, acidophilus, aloe vera juice, garlic, multivitamin and mineral complex, EFAs.
Herbs:
Chamomile, lobelia, pau d'arco, peppermint, slippery elm.
