These may be divided into two groups. The foods that are best avoided while you are losing weight, since they are bound to halt back this process, and foods that you can eat on occasion and when you are treating yourself with good cheer in maintenance.
Avoid when trying to lose weight:
Alcoholic drinks
Almond milk and almond butter
Avocados
Bananas
Barley
Bars, commerically prepared
Beets
Cheeses, except up to 12% fat
Cooked carrots
Coconut meat and coconut milk
Corn
Fruit, canned with syrup
Fruit juices
Grapes
Honey
Figs
Mango
Nuts
Peanuts, peanut oil and butter
Peas
Pineapple
Potatoes
Pork and its byproducts
Pumpkin
Rice (add after 3-4 weeks on Weight Loss)
Rice milk
Soda, or soft drinks with or without sugar (except with stevia)
Soy flour and soy milk
Wheat flour and its byproducts, except pasta from hard durum wheat
Avoid on a daily basis except when treating yourself occasionally in Maintenance:
Alcoholic drinks
Beer
Bread, refined
Candy
Cakes
Cereals with sugar
Chocolate bars
Cookies
Corn flakes
Crackers
Cream, normal or whipped
Flour, refined
Ice cream
Jams and marmalades made with sugar
Milk, especially cow's
Popcorn
Potato chips
Soda or soft drinks, except the ones that use stevia
Sweeteners, except stevia and agave
Sugar, white
Sweets, commercially baked
