High in cholesterol-lowering monounsaturated oleic acid, the type found in olive oil and almonds. It helps dilate blood vessels, it is a good source of potassium, and also of folate, important for the formation of hemoglobin. It contains high amounts of glutathione, an antioxidant that has been shown to block various carcinogens and the AIDS virus in experiments conducted in vitro (in a test tube).
