Seasonings such as herbs and spices have been used to increase the palatability of foods, to disguise the smell of foods beginning to go bad, but also to increase the metabolic rate and produce profuse sweating which helps cool the body by evaporation in hot climates. It is not surprising therefore that most spices originated and were first used by people inhabiting tropical countries.
All edible herbs (fresh or dried), garlic, onions, chives, scallions, shallots, cayenne, dill, mustard seeds, parsley, ginger, purslane, rocket, seaweed, apple and wine vinegar.
Too much salt, as most things you buy already contain salt as a preservation medium. Also black and white pepper, but not red pepper; all artificial vinegars; miso (extremely high in sodium).
